Executive Summary
In 1980 the Women's Information Network, Inc (WIN) was founded in an effort to address the crisis, and focus on the many issues of daily living faced by at risk youth. WIN is comprised of an eclectic group of women, from all walks of life, who are dedicated to making a difference and ensuring that young people make the connection they need to overcome their obstacles and succeed in academic endeavors. Organization members currently reside in the following states; New York State, North Carolina and Maryland, and possess a profound knowledge of the needs of the under served and under represented youth.
On March 13, 2004 Dianne Glass Wilson, CEO of The Women's Information Network, Inc (WIN lost her only son Jevon Ryans White to gun violence. Jevon a Con Edison employee and former employee of the Greater Allen Cathedral Security in New York was loved and well known by many people in the community. As a part of the healing process WIN has broadened its focus.
WIN's Accomplishments
WIN obtained non profit status to implement the Jevon Ryans White Scholarship to young men with a desire to attend college. WIN affirms that focus based efforts geared toward providing youth with extensive access, including significant exposure to the proper resources is the key to success and alternative to gangs and violence.
Since March of 2004, three scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each have been provided for book expense.
In March of 2005 WIN collaborated with The You Can Go to College Committee and Con Edison, located in Queens, and awarded scholarships to Adam Mair and Ray Johnson. Each recipient received $500.00. Adam Mair attends A&T College in North Carolina and majors in Law. Ray Johnson attends Winston Salem College also located in North Carolina, he majors in business and communication.
In June of 2006 David James was awarded a $500.00 scholarship at the New York Greater Allen Cathedral Rites of Passage Ceremony. He presently attends Valencia College in Florida he is a business major in Queens.
Projection
WIN was approved to receive a $5000.00 discretionary grant from Councilman Leroy Comrie for the 2006-2007 fiscal year. Councilman Comrie holds the prestigious position of Minority Whip in the City Council, he currently serves the entire Southeast Queens Community.
This grant will allow our organization to continue expanding it's focus and collaborate with Unlimited Tutoring, a Queens based community organization.
January 15th thru March 23rd 2007 tutoring will be administered through our collaboration with Unlimited Tutoring to five male at risk youth, between the age of 8 to 13, for ten weeks to improve ELA reading and math scores. Students will be selected from elementary schools in the Jamaica area. The allocated funds will pay for tuition, $980 for each student. Students will be pre and post tested.
Financial Support
WIN seeks to secure funds in a variety of ways such as, but not limited to: grants, private donations and gifts, fundraising events, and benefits including a range of purpose related marketing campaigns, i.e. flea markets, candy sales, walk a thons and auctions. Any and all contributions will allow WIN to fulfill its stated mission and meet or exceed its current and future focus and goals.
WIN Goals
Provide academic, social and professional resources to a wide range of individuals, particularly at-risk youth.
Implement the Jevon Ryans White Foundation Scholarship Award and annually provide a minimum of two recipients with a scholarship for college.
Provide mentorship programs to at risk youth who are in need of support services in the areas we serve.
Develop a volunteer coalition comprised of caring and committed individuals with a wide range of skills and experience to assist with implementing WIN's goals.

Strive to improve the overall quality of life for all at risk populations, utilizing responsive and age appropriate techniques
Collaborate with an array of community and faith based organizations whose goals are aligned with our mission to ensure the betterment of our community.
Perform ongoing assessments and evaluation of community needs and develop programs accordingly.
Serve as the powerful and motivating voice for all at risk populations and raise awareness to the overall struggles and obstacles faced by youth.
